Payroll/Tax Analyst

May be stationed at Orlando, FL, Portland, ME or Kansas City area office.
As the Payroll/Tax analyst, you will be focused on ensuring the accurate preparation, maintenance, and reporting of timely, high quality, and accurate payroll and tax information.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist with processing of payroll each pay period
  • Maintain accurate records of tax withheld, payments & reporting
  • Reconcile withholding, unemployment, and other payroll related tax returns
  • Work with federal, state, and local tax agencies on audit requests
  • Maintain and adheres to schedule of payments & reporting
  • Monitor system controls of tax calculations
  • Prepare and carry out investigations into tax issues
  • Provide tax calculation explanation to employee inquiries
  • Work closely with payroll accountants in ensuring accurate liability validation
  • Maintain related accounting information
  • Review and confirm accuracy of W2 data at year-end and communicates any changes or issues with respect to the tax authorities
  • Prepare and assist with Year End/Quarter End filings and processing.
  • Manage new local and state accounts for wage and tax reporting purposes
  • Conduct tax register adjustments
  • Maintain up-to-date account registrations with taxing authorities
  • Set up garnishment orders
  • Investigate discrepancies with garnishments and child support orders
  • Seek out continuous process efficiencies or improvements, solicits team for input and participation
  • Implementation and on boarding of new clients

 

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant payroll tax experience required

Experience:

  • 4-5 years of experience working with large volume payrolls and multiple legal entities
  • Experience in working in a multi-state environment
  • Experience in new hire reporting
  • Strong local tax knowledge, including employee set up and reporting strongly preferred
  • Moderate skill level in using Microsoft Office (especially Excel), required. Advanced Excel desired.
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to complete projects timely and accurately
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
  • Willingness for flexible scheduling to meet processing demands.
  • Strong sense of urgency, proactive approach, and a solid focus on results.
  • Understands the end-to-end tax functional processes as well as how the tax functional processes integrate with the overall end-to-end payroll processes
  • SAP Payroll Experience is a plus
